David Cooper, 98, passed away on Oct. 15, 2022. David was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Max and Leona Cooper (nee Kafka).

David served in the U.S. Army, in the European Theater during WWII where he earned a bronze star for his service. After serving in the army, he returned home to finish college at CCNY with a degree in chemical engineering. He accepted a job with Goodyear which brought David to Akron, where he met And Married Ruth Moskovitz. Together with Ruth they raised five children, who in turn gave him nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

David later worked for M.A. Knight company, and then took a job with Congoleum, which took him and the family to New Jersey. They later moved back to Akron, where he returned to a job with M.A. Knight company, which became Koch Engineering from which he retired. He spent many wonderful years with family and friends.

David enjoyed a variety of activities. He was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing weekly with friends. David was also a skilled carpenter and created many items for the home. He was also a big do-it-yourself kind of person and taught himself many skills which he passed on to his children, saying “why pay for it when you can fix it yourself.” He was a lifelong member of Temple Israel.

After the death of Ruth, David met and married Esther Morris.

David is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sylvia (Joe) Minsky; brother, Edwin; his first wife, Ruth Moskovitz; step-daughter, Greta Meyer; and step-granddaughters, Cynthia McCausland and Melissa Sovil.

He leaves behind his wife, Esther Cooper; children, Lon (Laurie), Kerry, Lisa Pesantez, Sue (Charles) Brady, Eric and step-daughter, Allison Stewart, and step-son-in-law, Mark Myers; and step-granddaughter, Kate Ostland; along with nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two great-grandsons, and many nieces and nephews.
